This is a work of thoughtful memories from the little moments that make life grand. Assembled over many careful years, these poems and short stories were written throughout Gloria’s life, and follow her journey through Chicago, Aurora, and Wisconsin. Compiled from various papers, handwritten notebooks, typewritten letters, poetry journals, and a few new poems written especially for this book too. Family in Time is a unique dialogue of meaning and understanding between old and new generations. Contents include: family history, personal ideals, love, and reflections on living a full and happy life.
The time between poems is interesting to note as well, but the voice remains the same to create a cohesive rhythm of poetry. "Ballerina Branches," for example talks about Gloria's childhood days attending ballet lessons in Downtown Chicago, while her last poem "The Reflection," was written in 2019 towards the last years of her life on the Wisconsin farm. Throughout her life Gloria has won many poetry competitions, newspapers, and submitted her work to various journals. For the first time ever those poems and stories have been collected here as a full book for all to accessibly read and enjoy.
Lindsay is an artist from Chicagoland area, and grew up visiting her at the farm in Wisconsin. She has a unique perspective on both places of Gloria's younger and later life. She helped her organize, conceptualize, and order her thoughts into a sharable book. This book was completed during the last year of Gloria's life in 2020, and is a memorial to her thoughtfulness.
